"But as is a part of my studio's ethos with the name "ENDURE Studios", I find that the greatest strength always rises out of adversity, and that if we stick it out, don't quit, and learn to adapt, we'll be far better in the end."

COVID changed everything about the music world. With live shows cancelled across the world in 2020, tours, meet and greets, and all the usual things artists do in person to connect with their fans and promote their music, we’ve had to buckle down, adapt, and weather the storm quite a bit. As a songwriter/producer/artist, I also usually make a significant percentage of my income at the studio from licensing in film/tv, and the licensing industry has been down in many cases over 50% this year with stalled video production.

"There is nowhere that says it’s your right to be reckless, it’s your right to be irresponsible."

The people of the United States, right now, are acting like children. If something was decimating the banking industry and wearing a mask would fix it, I would be wearing a mask in solidarity to those that are suffering in the banking industry. There is something that has turned this country into a selfish group of people and not into a united one. People say it’s their right to not wear a mask or to not social distance. No, it’s not their right. There is nowhere that says it’s your right to be reckless, it’s your right to be irresponsible.

"It showed me that I am one hundred percent on the path I'm supposed to be on."

I realized that everything I thought about myself has been proven right. I am not a homeschooling teacher. I am not a stay at home mom; I don’t have the organizational skills for that. I’m not a good cook. I have never made so many meals in my life, and nor do I want to be doing those kinds of things. And one hundred percent showed me that I’m on the path I’m supposed to be on.

"I see so many people that are just so focused on themselves, so self-centered and selfish."

You teach people empathy… maybe you can, but I feel that it’s something we really need to focus on. I see so many people that are just so focused on themselves, so self-centered and selfish. And I really want empathy being taught to children. I think that we need to focus more on teaching children how to put themselves in someone else’s place, how to really feel someone else’s emotions and try to understand their perspective. I think that’s something that’s not being taught nearly enough and not being discussed enough for sure.

"Our leadership is terrible."

Our leadership is terrible. Period. We are lucky we had a decent governor. And it’s extremely frustrating to watch people ignore the science. In April, people would cross to the other side of the street, even if you both had masks on or they would at least step aside. Now it’s like people don’t give a shit. They are fine walking right next to you without masks. You think because you, your friends and the people you surround yourself with are smart and caring people that everybody else will be too. But so many people are so uncaring and so dumb; the stupidity level is so insane to me.

"Faith without vulnerability is extremism."

Brené Brown said faith without vulnerability is extremism. If you don’t accept that you might be wrong, then it’s extremism. Because we are human, we are all wrong sometimes. A lot of the divisiveness in our country has come because people believe what they believe, and there is no room for vulnerability, no one is admitting that maybe they are wrong.

"Detroit is going to be the city to look at to figure out how to get out of it because of the way our leadership is set up."

I live in a very unique bubble, to say the least. I personally think that we’re going to get out of this. And I think that business may even be better by the time we get out of this, because we’re going to have more adaptability of being able to overcome, being able to spend more time with families and not necessarily grind as hard as we need. And still have more of that quote unquote, life balance.

"Everything you do impacts everyone else."

I really wish people would realize their decisions have an impact on everyone else. When the governor of California closed the beaches, and then allowed them to re-open, but with strict rules, many people weren’t following those rules. They thought the rules were stupid, so they ignored the rules. That resulted in some beaches being completely closed again, which impacted everyone else. The bad decisions of the few hurt the many.

"Many people are saying, 'It doesn't directly affect me, so I don't care.'"

When it comes to this pandemic, I wish that people discussed the concept of compassion more, because so many people in our society right now are saying, “It doesn’t directly affect me. So I don’t care”. And that’s such a terrible attitude to have. We’re not going to get through this pandemic, if we don’t have compassion for the people who are more vulnerable to it. It’s just a humanity thing and unfortunately it’s just not ingrained in the culture.

"Acts of God don't give a shit that we invented Facebook."

Americans have an ego, we think we are invincible. We think we can get through anything because we’re forward thinking; we’re America. But acts of God don’t give a shit that we invented Facebook. They don’t care; they just ravage whatever.
